 EVENTS for WEEK of MAY 18, 2015:

The Stark County District Main Library will be sponsoring "SELECTING NURSERY PLANTS - HOW TO CHOOSE PLANTS from a NURSERY PROGRAM" on Wed. May 20th at 6 pm.  For more details, call 330 452-0665.

HOMESCHOOL THURSDAY: BIRD SONGS will be featured at The Wilderness Center on Thurs. May 21st from 10 am - noon.   Come and learn why birds sing. Then, practice identifying who is singing by using a few tricks.  $ 5 per child for members; $8 for non-member children.   Visit:   www.wildernesscenter.org to place a required pre-registration and for more info.

All Saints Temple, located on Wilbur Allen Jr. Ave. SE in Canton (next to Jackson Pool) will be providing FREE HOT MEALS on Sat. May 23rd from 1 - 3 pm.    If needing more info, call 330 280-1873.

A POETRY-THEMED BOOK DISCUSSION with David Harding will be held on Sat. May 23rd from Noon - 1 pm at The Massillon Museum in downtown Massillon.  It's free; open to the public; and no required reservations.  If questions, call 330 833-4061.

The City of Green is inviting all veterans and the community to attend their ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY on Mon. May 25th at 12 noon at the Green Veterans Memorial Park on Steese Rd.   Additional Memorial Day activities include a PANCAKE BREAKFAST from 7 - 9 am at the Fire Station;  Parade at 10:30 am; and COMMUNITY PICNIC and CAR SHOW at 12:30 pm.  Visit:   www.cityofgreen.org for more info.

The Louisville Area YMCA is looking forward to having lots of fun for everyone at their SUMMER DAY CAMP and CAMP MID PROGRAMS.   Kids entering grades 1 - 8th are welcome to register for all eleven weeks or just one week.   Pricing is available for part-time and full time weeks and there is NO REGISTRATION FEE.    Paperwork is available now at:    www.ymcastark.org

THE ANNUAL NAVARRE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE will be held on Mon. May 25th at 1 pm.   Holy Family Parish of Navarre will be offering a BIKE DECORATING CONTEST to area families.  Interested participants are asked to decorate their bikes and bring them to the basketball courts behind the Navarre Civic Center at 12:15 pm. 

Civil War Historian Chris Craft will talk about the enduring impact of the American Civil War at the Massillon Museum's monthly BROWN BAG LUNCH on Tues. May 26th from 12:10 - 12:50 pm.  No required reservations,  if any questions, please call 330 833-4061.

The Massillon Public Library will be presenting A TECH DISCUSSION CLASS on Tues. May 26th from 2 - 3:30 pm.  Participants are asked to bring their tech questions to go over with the class instructor.  Time permitting, attendees will take a look inside a desktop computer.  Laptop computers will also be available, but pre-registration is required by calling 330 832-9831, Ext. 327.

First Lutheran Church on East Tusc. St. near downtown Canton will be serving FREE HOT MEALS on Wednesday, May 27th from 4:30 - 6 pm.

THE 6th ANNUAL GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K, WALK,  & HEALTH EXPO will be held on Sat. May 30th at Cecchini Center at Walsh University on East Maple St. in North Canton.     Girls are welcome to pick up your race packets on Fri. May 29th from 5 - 8 pm.   Sat. May 30th - check in and register from 6 - 7:20 am;  Wave 1 race (public runners) begin at 7:55 am; and Wave race (GOTR participants - also open to the public) will begin at 8 am. 

Parents and grandparents, would you like to bond with your children & grandchildren with a good memory?   Then, bring them to Old Eli's "MODEL TRAIN LAYOUT" on Dover Rd. in Sugarcreek.  Open every Friday and Saturday from 10 am - 8 pm now to Oct. 24th.  $ 2 per person and children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult.   For directions and more info, call 330 763-1184.

RELAY for LIFE of LOUISVILLE/ALLIANCE will be held on Sat. May 30th from 10 am - 11 pm at Alliance Middle School on S. Union Ave. in Alliance.  Form a team, camp out, and have fun.   Visit:   www.relayforlife.org/LouisvilleAlliance for additional details.

There is a limited early registration deadline for the FOOTBALL SKILLS CAMP featuring Coach Jim Dennison and other area football coaches to be held June 8 - 10th at The Chapel in Marlboro.  Open to young players in grades 7 - 11th. Cost is $ 35 per person and the pre-registration deadline is May 31st. Call 330 935-0132 to register.

Everyone is invited to take a leisurely stroll through Massillon Cemetery at 1 pm on Sun.
