The Library will accept items for children, teens and adults, but not accepting encyclopedias, magazines, or Reader's Digest Condensed Books. "CRAFTNOON", a new event designed to raise scholarship funds for young women in Stark and Summit counties, will be held on Sun. Sept. 7th from 10 am - 4 pm at The Greentown Community Park Building. $ 45 per person event fee wil benefit the Miss Akron Canton Scholarship Program. Families with loved ones with a mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression will benefit from the FAMILY-to-FAMILY EDUCATION COURSE. These 12 weeks courses will be held Sept. 8th through Nov. 24th at either Science Hill Community Church on Beeson St. in Alliance or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on 55th St. NE in Canton. It's not too early to begin training for the 8th ANNUAL JACK HAZEN 5-K, scheduled this year for Sat. Oct. 11th. The run/walk will once again take place on the home turf of the Pioneer Cross Country Teams and will begin at 8:30 am. There will also be a separate kids' run for children ages five and under.
