The Junior League of Stark County has announced the creation of the JUNIOR LEADERS COMMUNITY SERVICE GRANT. This grant will fund service projects led by girls in grades K - 12. Two grants of up to $2,500.00 will be awarded. Info and application materials can be found at: www.jlstarkcounty.org under the "In Action" tab and are due by January 31, 2015.
The Malone University Writers Series will present this year's Stafford Lecturer, author David Hinton on Oct. 28th and 29th at the University on Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton. Both programs are free and open to the public. "THE SPIRITUAL ECOLOGY of ANCIENT CHINA" will be presented at 7 pm on Tues. Oct. 28th and "A POETRY READING" will be featured on Wed. Oct. 29th at 4 pm. TIME BANKING is a community program where participants exchange skills, talents, and passions for a time credit, which may then, in turn, be exchanged for needed services offered by others involved in the time bank. The Stark County Court Appointed Special Advocate and Guardian ad LITEM (CASA/GAL) PROGRAM is expanding into Carroll County. The program trains volunteers who are then appointed by Family Court judges to watch over and advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children until their cases are closed and they are placed in safe and permanent homes.
