EVENTS for WEEK of FEBRUARY 1,  2016: 

Registered voters may vote absentee in person at the Stark County Board of Elections office Feb. 17th through Mon. Mar. 14th.    To obtain an absentee ballot, voters can vote in person or send a written request.   For more info, call 330 451-7004. 

The 2016 seven-day long Chinese New Year celebration will begin on Feb. 7th.  To mark the year of the monkey, participants can make Chinese New Year KITES at the Massillon Museum's Do the Mu! WORKSHOP on Sat. Feb. 6th from noon - 2 pm.     Open to everyone and the workshop is free with all materials supplied.  No reservations required and you can drop in anytime between noon and 2 pm.  For more info, visit:   www.massillonmuseum.org

On Tues. Feb. 9th, children are invited to come and read to the wonderful assortment of dog listeners at the next Massillon Public Library's READ ALOUD TO THERAPY DOGS EVENT from 6 - 7:30 pm at the Library in downtown Massillon.  Program is free and for more details, visit:   www.massillonlibrary.org

The Massillon Museum will offer a ONE-DAY CLAY WORKSHOP for adults on Sat. Feb. 13th from 1 - 3 pm.   $ 25 per non-member couple / $ 20 per member couple registration fee includes instruction and materials.   Visit:   www.massillonmuseum.org or call 330 833-4061 to pre-register by Feb. 6th deadline.

The Massillon Museum is offering CHILDREN'S DRAWING CLASSES for children in grades four through eight.   Held on Sundays Feb. 14th, 21st, and 28th from 3 - 4 pm.    Fees are $ 30 for non-members and $ 25 for members and registration is due by Feb. 9th deadline.   Visit:   www.massillonmuseum.org for registration info.

Students in grades 6 - 12 are invited to participate in a BILLBOARD DESIGN CONTEST.  The winning entries will  have their designs featured on an actual billboard throughout Stark County as well as receive a gift card.   Two entries will be chosen from grades 6 - 8 and two from 9 - 12.  The theme is to emphasize the importance of keeping our water clean. To complement its FASHION OUTLAWS EXHIBITION, the Massillon Museum will present a two-session Batik Fashion Class for children in grades one through six on Saturdays, Feb. 20th and 27th from 1 - 2:30 pm.  The class fee ($ 25 for non-members/$ 20 for members) includes instruction and the cost of dyes and most supplies.  Each participant should bring a white cotton t-shirt to dye.  Pre-registration is required by Feb. 13th.   Visit:   www.massillonmusem.org for details.
