Summer may be slipping away but you can still enjoy great live music on Wed. Sept. 17th at Market Square (on Market Ave. North between 3rd and 4th streets in downtown Canton).   Featuring RYAN HUMBERT for the LIVE at LUNCH - FREE NOONTIME CONCERT.    Sponsored by ArtsinStark.

The Malone University Writers Series will open its fall season with literature by Asian and Asian-American writers on Thurs. Sept. 18th at 7 pm, in the Everett L. Cattell Library, located on Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton.  Event is free and open to the public.

Trinity United Church of Christ on Blackburn Road NW in Canton is hosting "A FREE FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT" on Sat. Sept. 20th from 6:30 - 9 pm.  Movie is an underwater adventure with lots of fish.  No charge admission and if needing more info, visit:    www.trinityuccanton.org

COSI on WHEELS will be held at Canton County Day School on Sat. Sept. 20th from 10 am - 2 pm in the school's gymnasium.  Open to the public, especially for children age 3 through grade 8, where children will explore science and discover lots of fun.    Event is a kick-off to their 50th ANNIVERSARY and this address is 3000 Demington Ave. NW in Canton.  Call 330 453-8279 for more info.

The annual Massillon High School "TIGER SWING MARCHING BAND REVIEW" will be held this Sat. Sept. 20th starting at 7 pm in the Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.  Bands include Dover, Wooster, Cuyahoga Falls, Wadsworth, Poland, Kenton Ridge (from the Springfield area) and Olentangy Orange (from the Columbus area) in addition to the host Massillon Band and Massillon Alumni Band.  Tickets are $ 5 for adults/  $ 3 for seniors and students aged 13 through college, and free for children aged 12 and under.

NIMISHILLEN CREEK LEAP will be held on Sat. Sept. 20th with registration from 8 - 9 am.  Everyone's to meet at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum.   All interested participants are asked to wear long pants and long sleeved shirts, boots, and do not bring any valuables.  For more info, call 330 455-7043.

A FREE LUNCHEON  and The AULTMAN CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAM will be presented at Hear the Word Ministry on Wales Road on Sept. 20th from 1 - 3 pm.   If any questions, please call 330 936-6418.

First Lutheran Church on East Tusc. St. (near downtown Canton) will be serving FREE HOT MEALS on Wednesday, Sept. 24th from 4:30 - 6 pm.

NAMI of Stark County will be offering a FREE 6-WEEK EDUCATION PROGRAM for parents, teachers and professionals involved with children at risk for or who have a mental illness diagnosis.   Classes will be held at Early Childhood Resource Center on Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton, beginning Wed. Sept. 24th from 6 - 8 pm.  Classes are free, but you must call 330 455-6264 to register.

The Wilderness Center is celebrating their EARTHLY DELIGHTS - "IN FIELDS OF GOLD BENEFIT DINNER and AUCTION" on Thurs. Sept. 25th at 6 pm at Gervasi Vineyards.    In additon to honoring two special members, they will also be celebrating the Center's 50th year in the community.  For ticket information, call 330 359-3235, Ext. 20. 

The ANNUAL MALONE UNIVERSITY'S - DAVENPORT DERBY"  will be held on Thurs. Sept. 25th in the parking area.  Decorated couches will arrive at 4:30 pm with judging scheduled to begin at 5 pm.  Races will take place at 5:30 pm.   Stop by and enjoy the fun - all competing for the golden couch award.

Good food and entertainment will highlight the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum's - "TASTE of OUR TOWN" fundraiser on Thurs. Sept. 25th from 6 - 8:30 pm.  Enjoy the shops, demonstrations, a Barber Shop Quartet, juggler,  view Ida's tiara and the Museum's newest Exhibit - Mentioning the Unmentionables.   For further info and to place a reservation/ticket - call 330 455-7043.

Massillon Museum' s three-week workshop "PAPER BEADED JEWELRY" will be offered on Thursdays, Oct. 2, 9, and 16th from 6 - 7:30 pm.  All ages are welcome.  Pre-registration is required by Sept. 27th by either stopping in at the Musem, visiting: www.massillonmuseum.org or by calling 330 833-4061.

The Main Library of the Stark County District Library (on Market Ave. N in Canton) will offer a two-part program, INTRODUCTION to SEWING, geared towards adults and teens.  Part one will be held on Sat. Sept. 27th from 10 - 11:30 am.   Part two will be held on Sat. Oct. 11th from 10 - 11:30 am.  Programs are free, but pre-registration is required by calling 330 452-0665.

Stark County's 1st ANNUAL ROCK THE RIM  - " 3 on 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT" will take place on Oct. 18th and 19th at GlenOak High School on Schneider St. NE in Canton.  Open to boys and girls, 3rd - 12th grades and men's and women's open division.  Players coach themselves.  Go to:   www.glenoakboysbasketball.com and sign up today.
