What's going on the week of January 30, 2012:

On Wed. Feb. 1st, at 6:30 pm, the monthly meeting of the Massillon Genealogical Society will host guest speaker Jean Troop, daughter of Anna Ruth Galbreath-Wyker, who lived to age 106.  This free program will be held at The Lillian Beane Center on 16th St. in Massillon.  No registration is required and for more details, call 330 832-9831.

The Foltz Community Center of East Canton will be holding their "ANNUAL CHILI-COOK" on Fri. Feb. 3rd from 4 - 7:30 pm.  Three categories - mild, spicy, and best overall - will compete for a grand prize of $ 50 each.  For more info, call 330 488-6500.

The Massillon Museum will present the "DO THE MU PROGRAM!" on Sat. Feb. 4th.   Theme will be "Your New Look" and will feature adult participants designing fabric brooches with a needle-and-thread sewing option;  plus a no-sew stamp-and-paint project for younger children.  It's free and open between noon and 2 pm.   For more details, call 330 833-4061.

On Sat. Feb. 4th, at 11 am, The Massillon Public Library will present "CREATING WITH GLASS BEADS" .  Attendees will make their own beaded, hand-hammered bookmark to take home.  Cost is $ 2 and to place a required reservation, call 330 832-9831.

Four imporant works on paper were recently added to the Permanent Collection of The Canton Museum of Art - a collection of more than 1,600 works.  Exhibits will be on display now through March 4th during regular Museum hours.  For more info, visit:   www.cantonart.org or call 330 453-7666.

The North Canton City School District will offer early childhood screenings for 3 or 4 yr. old children who are residents of the North Canton City School District and are suspected of having a handicapping condition.  Registrations for the screening must be received by Mon.
