18 Year Old Forgives Brother’s Killer

Brandt Jean took the stand yesterday and told Amber Guyger that he forgave her and that he didn’t even want her to go to prison. Then he asked the judge if he could hug her. The judge assented and it was an emotional moment in court.   He made a point to say he was speaking for himself and not the rest of his family.

We’ve seen several victim’s families forgive the murderers. I’ll be honest, I just don’t know if I could do that. If someone took away one of my family members I’m really not sure I could get to forgiveness, especially that quickly. This young man is pretty amazing. I admire him for being able to get there, I’m just not sure I could do it.  I hope his family can find peace at some point.  I don’t know how you get there but I hope they can find their way to it.
