Several years ago, my girlfriend and I had went to go see Wicked in Cleveland for Valentine’s Day. Playhouse Square does a ticket raffle on the day of the show where lucky winners may get front row tickets; we happened to be exceptionally lucky that day! From the front row, you can feel the power of sound emanating from the stage like a wash of sunlight. This was especially apparent in climactic songs like “Defying Gravity.” The vocal delivery was so on point it was palpable! Point being, the leading roles are very enormous red slippers to fill, and I think a key original cast member has found the perfect match!

Kristin Chenoweth is campaigning for Ariana Grande and Dove Cameron to star in a film adaptation of Wicked. Chenoweth starred as Glinda in the original Broadway cast, and says, “For sure, that’s who I think is fit for the role. Those two.”  Additionally, it seems fans agree with her! The word going around is that Cameron would star as Glinda and Grande as Elphaba.  Other potential names being thrown around for the roles include Lea Michele and Beth Behrs, who Chenoweth says would be good selections if directors decided to go with someone in their 30s.

Do you agree with Kristin Chenoweth, should Ariana Grande be cast in Wicked?
