Black Bear Spotted in Portage County

A doorbell camera in Mantua alerted the home owner that there was an intruder wandering in their yard. The intruder turned out to be a black bear. Wildlife officials say young male black bears from Pennsylvania are making their way over to Ohio for the summer. They’re pretty easily scared if you yell at them and wave your arms but they warn everyone to take precautions, like secure your garbage. The experts feel that any bears that come into this area will likely make their way back to Pennsylvania by the end of the summer.
