Music and arts are usually the first to go when a school makes budget cuts. Most of the time, music and arts are seen as non-essential classes when trying to find ways to cut down on expenses. Due to this, they don’t make the cut when push comes to shove. Music classes have played such an immense role in my life growing up, that I simply can’t imagine how I would have turned out without it. This is why I love when artists are so passionate about keeping music in school!

Chaka Khan is on a mission to make sure that music programs stay in schools.  Chaka is showing support for the New Jersey program Little Kids Rock that provides instruments and other materials for schools across the country.  “I’ve seen music do some amazing things for kids who weren’t expected to do anything,” Chaka said.  She also has her own Chaka Khan Foundation that focuses on autism awareness.
