CELEBRITY CUISINE BRINGS TOGETHER FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY
TO SUPPORT HUNGER-RELIEF EFFORTS WITHIN STARK COUNTY
CANTON, Ohio – (March 5, 2019) – The Tri-County Restaurant Association and Atlantic Food Distributors are expecting 1,600 guests for the 27th annual Celebrity Cuisine on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. Celebrity Cuisine benefits the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s prepared and perishable food rescue program, Community Harvest.
Celebrity Cuisine guests will enjoy unlimited appetizers, entrée samples, desserts, beer and wine from more than 50 of Stark County’s finest restaurants and purveyors donating their time, expertise and food and beverage items. Live music will be provided by local favorite, Hey Monea, and entertainment by Kenny & JT of News-Talk 1480 WHBC.
The evening will encourage guests to support the Community Harvest program through an exciting silent auction and raffles. General admission is $30 per person and a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available.
“Celebrity Cuisine has grown exponentially over the years and now provides over 1,600 members in our community the opportunity to mingle with national and local celebrities while enjoying delicious food from local restaurants and purveyors,” said Faith Barbato, senior manager of prepared & perishable food services at the Foodbank. “I look forward to welcoming new attendees and celebrities each year, and I am so thankful for all the vendors, sponsors, volunteers and donors who have helped turn this event into one of the most beloved food events in Stark County.”
Proceeds from the event will help the Community Harvest program continue its work in the local community by collecting even more prepared and perishable food from restaurants, banquet facilities, caterers, and hospitals and delivering it directly to hot meal sites within the Foodbank’s network of hunger-relief partners. Rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste, enables the Foodbank to provide even more nourishing food options to community members struggling with hunger.
In 2018, the Community Harvest program rescued and distributed nearly 472,000 meals within Stark County alone. Since merging with Community Harvest in 2017, the Foodbank has expanded its prepared and perishable food rescue efforts to four of the eight counties within its service area.
