Well it took them long enough! A bill that would make animal cruelty a federal felony has passed the Senate and is on its way to the White House. The PACT Act, which stands for Prevent Animal Cruelty and Torture, expands on a 2010 law and makes animal cruelty a felony punishable by up to seven years behind bars. Animal cruelty bills are already on the books a the state level in all 50 states. The Senate unanimously approved the bill on Tuesday after it was passed by the House this week. It now heads to the Oval Office for President Trump’s signature. In my opinion, a bill like this is long overdue. Not only for the morals behind making such an awful thing a felony, but it has been proven time and time again that those who abuse animals are more likely to harm another human as well.
