First Edition Of “Harry Potter” Worth A Ton Of Money

Quick, check the shelves. If you were an early reader and have a first edition of Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone, you could be in for a huge windfall. According to 7 News in Australia, only 500 books were printed, which were sent to schools and libraries around the world at the time. Heading to the Hanson’s auction block later this month, an original copy is expected to bring in $50,000 AUD ($34,500 USD) when the hammer comes down. What makes this version of the book special are two publishing errors. On the back jacket is the misspelling of “philospher” and there’s a repetition inside the pages. Do you own anything that might be worth something at auction? What do you think you could get?
