Flood Evacuations, Rescues Underway in Summit, Wayne

(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Residents were being evacuated and rescued from flooded homes in the Barberton area in Summit County and in Rittman in Wayne County on Monday morning.

This, with water from nearby creeks entering homes and businesses.

Over two inches of rain fell on already-saturated ground in those areas.

A Flash Flood WARNING is in effect for northern Wayne County and southern Summit County until 9:45 a.m. Monday.

There’s also a Flood Advisory for northern Stark County until 11 a.m. on Monday.

The National Weather Service reminds you: “turn around, don’t drown” when you encounter flooded roads.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for much of northern Ohio Including Stark, Summit, Portage and Wayne Counties through late Monday night.

Meantime, the Pittsburgh office of the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of its coverage area from 2 p.m. Monday until late Tuesday night.

That watch includes Carroll and Tuscarawas Counties.
