Sinister (2012)

One of the better demon/haunting movies of the last decade. It’s got a strong story, solid set pieces and some of the ‘found footage’ that moves the story forward is just very unsettling. Ethan Hawke does a solid job, along with the child actors. Let’s face it, if you can get solid child actors, you are gonna have a good scary movie!

Let The Right One In (2008)

It’s Swedish so you are gonna be reading some subtitles but this vampire flick is a home run. It’s got a better love story than Twilight and most of the vampire action is done off-screen or out of shot so if gore is an issue for you, you can stomach this one. The story is actually heartbreaking and by the end, you might feel more of a swell of pity than you feel terrorized. It had an American remake with Chloe Grace Moretz playing the vampire but, as American remakes tend to be, it was not that good.
