Return of The Living Dead (1985)

Imagine a horror movie that simultaneously tried to take itself both as seriously and as not seriously as possible. That’s ‘Return of the Living Dead’. No, it has no affiliation with the Romero universe of ‘Dead’ films, despite the loose reference in this film.

It is campy and very laughable but I’ll be real, as a kid, it scared the hell out of me. One of the most notable actors is Miguel A. Nunez, Jr. who would become a bit comedy actor in the early 2000’s. But it’s still a fun watch.

The Lost Boys (1987)

A big name cast, a big soundtrack and a vibe that left you feeling cool as hell. The Lost Boys is actually a really solid story told in one of the most 80’s styles possible.

The classic “new guy in town who accidentally befriends then becomes a vampire’ trope plays out quite nicely. The film’s cult status even spawned a couple 2000’s sequels/spin-offs, which of course are not great. But this one is one of the classics!
