Finding out that you may not be as well as you thought you were is a jarring experience. I know first hand what it’s like to experience odd symptoms and have a doctor reveal the bleak news that there’s more to uncover. Honestly, not knowing was the most terrifying part of the experience at the time. It’s even more frightening when it’s something big like a high possibility of stroke in my case, or in Kim’s case, lupus – where your immune system attacks your own organs and tissue.

Kim recently opened up in an interview with Today that she tested positive for lupus antibodies. She found that she may be also dealing with rheumatoid arthritis. She discussed about how her hands have been swollen and numb. On top of that, she’s been feeling unusually tired and nauseous. At first, she had thought it was a pregnancy, but the tests showed negative for that. After more testing, the lupus antibodies were discovered. When asked about her feelings right now, she stated, “It just can really scare you when you start thinking about how much this is going to change [your] life.” The good news is she has it under control with medication.

Have you ever had a health scare that came out of the blue? If you have health problems, how do you keep positive about it?
