(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a man driving a stolen vehicle fled from troopers and eventually crashed.

A little after 4 a.m. Wednesday, troopers from the Ravenna Post attempted to stop a stolen car that was eastbound on Interstate 76 in Portage County.

The car was a 2017 Hyundai Elantra.

The highway patrol says the car exited on State Route 14 and sped southbound for about 9 miles.

The driver then turned onto Bandy Road and eventually lost control of the car and crashed into trees and a fence before coming to rest in a field.

The patrol says the suspect, Jerry T. Burton Jr., of Northfield, was trapped in the wreckage.

He was taken by medical helicopter to an Akron hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The case and crash remain under investigation.
