A Michigan powerlifter put his training to use last week when he lifted a two-ton Jeep, saving the life of a man pinned inside.
29-year-old Ryan Belcher was just getting off work when he encountered a Jeep Cherokee that had flipped over. He says he was able to use leverage to push the vehicle a couple of feet while others pulled the man free.
Belcher can bench-press 530, squat 950, and has participated in weightlifting competitions. Afterwards, he said he was ‘humbled’ by the experience and said “I was put there for a reason”.
