I have not jumped back on the Browns Bandwagon. Yes, I heard all the optimism before the season started. Baker Mayfield is our franchise quarterback, Odell Beckham, Jr. is going to be the star receiver, etc. etc. etc. No, I did not get very excited. Call me a fair weather fan but I don’t think I am. I watched every moment of the The Fumble and The Drive and all the other Cleveland sports heartbreaks we’ve had over the last how many years.

I heard people say that they expected the Browns to win 11 games this year and head into the playoffs and some people went so far as to even say they’d make it to the Super Bowl. I just never got my hopes up. That, of course, comes from the last 20 years.  They’re really going to have to prove it to me to get too excited now.

I did not expect us to win yesterday against New England. Don’t get me wrong, I would love, love, LOVE to see us hand the Patriots a loss because I can’t stand Bill Belichick or Tom Brady. But I am realistic. I did hope that we would have a good showing, though. I was listening to the game as I drove home from Cuyahoga Falls yesterday and then I watched the rest once I got home. The penalties were just unreal, which has been an ongoing problem for them all year. Of course, the 3 fumbles on 3 consecutive snaps just made us look completely incompetent.

So, honestly, I’m not holding my breath for the remainder of the season. Are you?
