What is the biggest life change you have ever faced? Did you wonder how you would face each day? Have moments when you felt alone?

Right now, it seems that everyone around me is dealing with major life changes, myself included. Whether it’s an upcoming marriage, a divorce or separation, new baby, or a major move for a new job. Everyone, and everything, around me is changing. Each person I have talked to has expressed the same concerns: How am I going to make this happen? Is this the right decision? What’s the next step?

I’ve learned that the next step… is just that. The next step. To take it a day at a time, and to keep moving forward. Someone told me something recently that has stuck with me: If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are assuming the universe will reward you for one thing, and punish you for another. There is no set agenda for your life. Once you make a decision, your life works around that decision. No right or wrong. Just a series of possibilities that shift with each thought, feeling, and experience.

The key is to make the decisions in your life that help you towards your desired outcome, and to be honest with yourself about what you want. Be honest with those around you as well. Remember that you are ultimately in control of your life, and which way it goes.

That’s the scariest part, isn’t it? That’s why so many people stand still. Because owning up to the fact YOU are in control of your life, and taking responsibility for that, can be terrifying. Or at least, that’s how I’ve been feeling. But I realized that standing still, and hoping things would change on their own, was scarier than making my first decision.

If you are at a major cross roads in your life, or facing a difficult decision, know that you aren’t alone. Have the courage to do what needs to be done in order for you to claim your happiness, or at least start heading in the right direction.
